Fred Wilson, Senior Pastor

Fred WilsonFred Wilson became the sixth Senior Pastor of Trinity Church during our nearly 50 years of ministering to Silicon Valley. Fred came to know Christ as his personal Savior as a child and dedicated his life to full-time ministry service as a young man. Raised in Southern California, Fred earned a bachelor's degree in clinical psychology from Biola University. In 1972, he received a master of divinity from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon; that same year, he began pastoring a church in Oregon. He later earned a Doctor of Ministry from Western Seminary, and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Southwestern College.

Prior to accepting the call to Trinity Church, Fred served as senior pastor of Calvary Church of Los Gatos for 22 years. He has been and continues to be very active in both international and radio ministries. He is President of Reaching for Life ministries, an organization formed to use electronic media for the teaching of God's word and the spread of the gospel. His teachings can be heard locally in the Bay Area on KDIA AM 1640 radio at 11:30 a.m. each weekday. Fred has served on the Boards of Southwestern College, Mission to the Americas, and CBAmerica. He currently serves on the governing boards of Strategic Renewal International and Jesus Hope for Romania.

Additionally, Fred ministers to missionaries and the national Church in various countries of the world, speaking in both field and church conferences and providing counseling.

Fred is supported in ministry by Cheryl, his wife of more than 40 years. They have three children: Julie, Todd, and Matthew; and seven grandchildren.

Avery Stafford, Pastor of Worship Ministries

Avery StaffordAvery says, "Taking the gospel of Jesus Christ and wrapping it in music is what I want to do. I have been singing since I was two years old. When I was old enough to realize what God had done for me by sending his Son, I knew what I wanted to do. I want to take the Gospel to the world through music."

Avery has a Bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry from Abilene Christian University and a Master's degree in Pastoral Studies from Multnomah Biblical Seminary. He and his wife Nina have three children: Marlea, Stephan, and Kerrington.

Avery was the March 2007 winner in the Christian/Gospel category in the Song of the Year Songwriting Contest. This international songwriting contest supports VH-1's Save the Music Foundation. Avery won for his song "Eyes of a Child" (MP3 link), inspired by his own children.

Diane Lyall, Children’s Ministries Director

Diane grew up in Southern California, where she and her family attended a Baptist church every week — Sunday school and a worship service in the morning, plus Training Union at night. When she became a teenager, she also attended Youth Choir practices on Sunday afternoons. "The people of that church were my family," Diane says. "They made me feel loved and special. I wanted to go to church whenever I could to see my friends. I loved learning about God and being with other kids who loved Jesus.

"We hope and pray that the kids of Trinity Church will grow to love God and to follow Jesus. We want them to enjoy coming to church because they feel loved and special. We hope they will make good friends. We pray they will grow up loving Jesus as Savior and Lord. We want them to have a servant's heart and think of others."

Diane joined our staff in 2005. At Trinity, she is responsible for the oversight of programs for children from birth through 5th Grade (assisted by Lisa Prather, the Trinity Nursery Coordinator).
