3An exciting club program where children learn about God

If you answered #3, then you are correct. AWANA, which stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (taken from the theme verse, II Timothy 2:15), is an international club program started over 50 years ago in Chicago, Illinois. It combines the excitement of unique games and challenging contests with memorizing God's Word and lessons from the Bible.

Our AWANA club includes separate groups for three and four year old preschoolers (Cubbies), children in kindergarten through second grade (Sparks), and individual groups for boys and girls in third through fifth grade (collectively called T&T Club, for Truth & Training). The groups are held on Wednesday evenings, from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m., during the school year (September through May).

Our program is a place where children learn what it means to be like Jesus from the Bible and observing the lives of adult leaders who follow Jesus themselves.

For enrollment information, please contact Jan Ramirez, AWANA Program Director, at the Trinity Church office at (408) 739-6659, or by e-mail. Open registration for the fall will begin August 1st, 2009.

Nursery Program

We consider it a privilege to minister to the youngest members of our Trinity family. Our goal is to provide them a safe, happy, and inviting atmosphere. For more information, please contact Trinity's Nursery Coordinator, Lisa Prather.

Nursing mothers are always welcome to the nursery; we will find you a quiet place where you and your child can enjoy privacy.

Age

Our nursery program is designed for children ages one month to two years. Children one month to two years are cared for in the main nursery with appropriate toys and books.

Nursery Hours

The nursery is staffed for the Sunday morning services at 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., and for Wednesday night AWANA meeting and LIFE group meetings (6:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.). Nursery care is also provided at selected special church events.

Nursery Check-In Procedures and Security

Each parent bringing a child to the nursery for the first time will complete a registration sheet for our records.

To make sure your child is safe, parents are asked to sign their children in when dropping them off and sign them out at pick-up.

At sign-in, parents will be assigned a pager and given one part of a three-part tag with that pager number. If we need to contact you about your child, your pager will vibrate for 30 seconds.

For the three-part tag, one tag is placed on your child to identify who he or she is to the workers, one tag on the child's diaper bag, and one tag is given to you. This third tag and the pager will be needed in order to pick up your child.

To ensure that children are not released to any unauthorized persons, no child will be released to anyone but a parent with the proper ID tag and pager.

Children's Ministries Overview

At Trinity we believe that children are very important! For Jesus said,

". . .do not hinder the (children) from coming to me, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." -Matthew 19:14

We currently offer a number of opportunities for children to learn about God's love for them:

  • On Sunday mornings, children take part in our The Lighthouse Company, which has age-graded classes for kids from two years old through fifth grade.
  • On Wednesday evenings for children from three years old through fifth grade, our AWANA program teaches children truths and skills to live for God.
  • For children younger than two years old, we have a caring nursery available at most regularly scheduled church events.
  • And we have special events for children and their families throughout the year!

The Lighthouse Company's class names are:

  • Nursery: Twinklers
  • 2-3 years: Sparklers
  • 4-5 years (Kindergarten): Sonbeams
  • 1st-2nd grades: Light Rays
  • 3rd-5th grades: Illuminators

If you would like more information about any of these programs, please feel free to contact Diane Lyall, Director of Children's Ministries, at the Trinity Church office at (408) 739-6659.
