10 Revelation

Revelation 10:1-11

The strong angel (seemingly stronger than the ones before) stood astride the sea & land showing that he, not Satan, has God’s power over Earth & Water, and above him, shone a rainbow—a sign of God’s promise or protection—surely an encouragement to John.  Seven is a number of completion. The Angel held a small scroll in his hand—something mysterious & very important. When the Seven Thunders spoke, God told John NOT to write a word.--Why?  Perhaps the time wasn’t quite right to reveal it yet. This angel lifted his right hand and swore an oath that time was up—that after he would blow the trumpet, the Mystery of God & everything that was to be done, would be completed.

The God told John to go and take the book & when he did, the Angel told him to eat it.  He said it would taste sweet, but then it would turn sour in his stomach. Just as God’s Word is sweet for those who know & belong to Him, but bitter for those who are perishing.  Or like God’s love and wrath. John was then told to go back & prophesy again to many nations.

Even when God is doing big and scary things around us and with us, we need to hold to His promises for us. He will never leave us of forsake us.

God’s timing is perfect, and we need to listen to his voice & obey it even when we don’t understand it.

He will complete the good work that He has begun in us.

We need to take is the Sweet Words of God –Memorize Scripture—Hide it in our hearts & then it is our job to go and tell others about—because the time will come when it will be too late.

God please help us to trust you--to taste and see that you are good.  Help us not be alarmed when life gets hard and seems too big to handle—help us remember that You are ultimately in charge of all that we can see, and all that we cannot see.  That You have a plan. And that part of Your plan is to use us to tell others about You, so that they might come to repentance and see Your goodness.  Give us a greater burden for the lost, both here around us & to many nations. Amen.

Thank you my love - (my wife)
All this power, this majesty, this thunderousness, rainbows and radiance, eternality and trumpet blasts - for us little people with our little finite nations, Kings that die and languages that are limited in expression and communication. God really does love the world to go to all of this length. And this marvelous, awesome God became subject to our littleness, our weakness, our finiteness when He punched a hole in this world and came as a baby born in misunderstanding and limitedness. Revelation helps me understand Christmas with all of its language that attempts to paint a picture of God's majesty. It helps me understand the immense sacrificial love He has for us. He is truly King of kings and Lord of lords - Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Go tell it on the mountain, and on the streets, and in the cubicles, wherever God has placed you (us)!
