1 Timothy 1
1 Timothy 1
In verse 1, Paul points to who appointed him to be messenger of Christ Jesus, verses 2-3, he testifies of timothy’s Christian character. 4 thru 7, he commands his son in the faith to refrain those whose business is to engage in meaningless talks, teach false doctrines which do not advance the kingdom but promote controversies among the listeners. In 8-11 Paul explains what the sound doctrine stand against: immorality and injustice. In verses 12-17, the apostle shared his testimony on how God had mercy and saved him by His grace and entrusted him with the gospel, verses 18-20, Paul reminds Timothy to remember what has been spoken of him in prophecies, to stand firm in Christ and to learn from what had happened to those who departed from the faith.
God reminds me of my calling as a child His, and that my call is to advance the kingdom with sound doctrine, to refrain from meaningless conversation that are fruitless in bringing glory to His name and which can create controversies that will lead to a shipwreck in the faith.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14
