1 Corinthians 4:1-13

1 Corinthians 4:1-13

  • Paul wants others to see him as Christ’s servant
  • His main concern is to be found by Jesus as a faithful servant
  • He tries not to concern himself with what others think or even himself
  • Because it is the Lord alone who he must give account to
  • We need to be careful about judging the fruit of someone’s work, for the true value of their work is in the motives which the Lord will reveal and give Praise accordingly
  • We need not boast in others because it is ultimately God who does the good work in our lives.
  • God has given them all they need, they don’t really need Apollos or Paul
  • The apostles are examples of God’s people who go through very difficult times in order to please the master.

It is so easy for me to fall into the trap of living my life to please others or at the very least giving others the credit for the blessings in my life that are really belongs to God. I need to remember Paul’s encouragement here that God uses others but in Christ are my greatest blessings. Praise God for those blessings. I must also remember that I live for the judgment of one, Jesus Christ. And that serving him is often difficult, but in the end He will reveal my faithfulness in the midst of the storms and reward me.

Thanks you for the blessings in my life and the people that You uses to bring those blessings to me. I give You all the glory and honor for the rich inheritance I have through Christ. Please forgive me for getting side tracked in pleasing others, and guide me to Your will that I might serve in such a way that You might say, “well done good and faithful servant” when I stand before You on judgement day. AMEN
